Lessons, books and voices are all inside Zupzi Read, so lessons need no internet and there is nothing to stream. There are no ads, no in-app purchases, no analytics and no tracking. Besides Apple's English voice pack for listening, which a grown-up starts once, the app is set up to download nothing.
- No internet needed for lessons
- Nothing to stream
- No ads
- Nothing to buy
What is inside the app
- Every lesson, from the curriculum file the app reads.
- The books, with their pictures.
- The teacher's and the mascots' voice clips, made before release, and the mascots' short animated clips.
- Two of the four speech recognizers used for listening, with their models.
What downloads once
Apple's English voice pack, for the other two speech recognizers. A grown-up starts it from Grown-ups › Listening (“Get the English voice pack”), and the app says: “Needs internet once.” Without it, listening still works with the two recognizers inside the app, and then it never corrects.
What the app doesn't have
- No ads.
- No in-app purchases.
- No analytics and no tracking.
- No account or sign-in: a grown-up adds each reader, and the reader taps their own picture.
Progress and the reading diary are kept on the device. Zupzi has no server and never gets a copy; like all app data, they are included in your device backups, if you make them. See the Privacy Policy.
Questions
Does Zupzi Read need Wi-Fi?
Not for lessons: lessons, books and voices are all inside the app, and there is nothing to stream. Besides Apple's English voice pack for listening, which a grown-up starts once, the app is set up to download nothing.
Are there ads or in-app purchases?
No. Zupzi Read has no ads and no in-app purchases, and it is free, like the other Zupzi apps.
Does it need an account?
No. There is no account or sign-in. A grown-up adds each reader, and progress is saved on the device.
Is anything about my child sent anywhere?
The app keeps progress and a reading diary on the device, and Zupzi never gets a copy: the diary leaves the device only if a grown-up shares it with “Share the diary”. Like all app data, both are included in your device backups, if you make them.
